Handlery Hotel Illuminates San Francisco with Summer Lights and Charitable Donations

Handlery Hotels, California’s oldest family-owned and operated hotel company, is enhancing the vibrancy of San Francisco neighborhoods with its Summer Lights celebration from June through August. Starting June 15, the Handlery Union Square Hotel will illuminate its façade with dynamic streaming lights, marking the beginning of a comprehensive exterior refurbishment. This initiative is designed to brighten up the Union Square area as it continues its resurgence.

According to Jack Handlery, General Manager of the hotel, the goal is to support the City’s efforts to foster positive developments for both residents and visitors. In addition to the visual enhancement, the Handlery Family is making substantial charitable contributions to local organizations. To honor Pride month, they are donating $10,000 to the SF LGBT Center in the Castro neighborhood. In July, another $10,000 will be donated to the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center in the Tenderloin. The summer will culminate with a final $10,000 donation to the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center.

Jack Handlery expressed hope that these actions will inspire others to contribute to San Francisco’s neighborhoods and support the city’s ongoing revitalization. By combining visual appeal with tangible community support, Handlery Hotels aims to play a significant role in San Francisco’s return to its renowned beauty.

Handlery Hotels, founded by Harry Handlery in 1928, has been serving guests for nearly a century. The company operates two properties: the Handlery Union Square Hotel in San Francisco and the Handlery Hotel San Diego. Both locations feature outdoor heated swimming pools, onsite parking, and proximity to local attractions. The San Francisco location is currently offering a special “Splash Play Stay Summer Package.” Additionally, frequent guests can benefit from the Handlery Rewards program, which offers one free night after every ten nights stayed at either California location.
