LaFleur Minerals Inc. (CSE: LFLR) (OTCQB: LFLRF) (FSE: 3WK0) has announced the appointment of Andrew Elinesky as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately. The leadership change comes as the company advances due diligence with Trafigura Canada Limited regarding a proposed prepayment and gold doré offtake arrangement, a move that could provide significant financial backing for the company's gold processing operations.
Elinesky brings more than two decades of senior executive and financial leadership experience to his new role. He most recently served as president and CEO of Sabre Gold Mines Corp., which was acquired in February 2025. In his new position, Elinesky will oversee corporate strategy, capital markets, financing, and investor relations. Paul Ténière, who previously served as CEO, will continue as president and a director, focusing on the company's technical and operational activities.
The announcement also provided updates on the due diligence process with Trafigura. Representatives from Trafigura and LaFleur management completed a two-day site visit to the Beacon Gold Mill and Swanson Gold Project on August 10-11. The visit included an inspection of the mill and process circuits, a review of recommissioning progress, and an inspection of the ongoing diamond drilling program at the Swanson Deposit. The company noted that while the due diligence is advancing, there is no assurance that definitive agreements will be reached or that they will be on the terms currently contemplated.
The potential deal with Trafigura is significant for LaFleur as it could provide the company with upfront capital and a guaranteed market for its gold production. The Beacon Gold Mill, which is capable of processing over 750 tonnes per day, is central to LaFleur's growth strategy. The company plans to use the mill to process mineralized material from its Swanson Gold Project as well as for custom milling services for other nearby gold projects.
LaFleur recently released a positive Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the Swanson Gold Project and the planned restart of the Beacon Gold Mill. The Swanson Gold Project includes 481 claims and one mining lease covering 200.7 square kilometers in the Abitibi Gold Belt near Val-d'Or, Québec. The project hosts several gold and critical metals prospects previously held by Monarch Mining, Abcourt Mines, and Globex Mining. The company has consolidated a large land package along a major structural break that includes the Swanson, Bartec, and Jolin gold deposits.
The appointment of Elinesky and the progress with Trafigura come at a critical time for LaFleur as it seeks to advance its projects and secure financing. The company's focus on the Abitibi Gold Belt, one of the world's most prolific gold-producing regions, positions it to benefit from the ongoing demand for gold. If the Trafigura deal is finalized, it could provide the necessary capital to bring the Beacon Gold Mill back into operation and advance the Swanson project toward production.
