MOSTe Luncheon to Highlight Empowerment of Young Women in Los Angeles

Los Angeles nonprofit MOSTe will host its first comprehensive fundraising luncheon, 'Empowering Girls and Elevating Futures,' marking a significant milestone in the organization's four-decade mission to support young women's academic and professional development.

The event, replacing the organization's traditional Lanterns gala, represents more than a fundraising opportunity. It symbolizes a strategic approach to addressing educational inequity by providing targeted support for girls from low-income households across Los Angeles County.

With a 38% increase in scholar enrollment this academic year, MOSTe now serves students in 19 communities, with 62.2% of enrolled scholars living below the poverty line. The organization's redesigned programs, including the MOSTe Leadership Academy, College Readiness, and Mentorship & Career Pathways, demonstrate a comprehensive approach to educational empowerment.

Executive Director Nicole Fisher emphasized the transformative potential of mentorship, noting that MOSTe scholars have successfully pursued careers in law, medicine, engineering, and entrepreneurship. The luncheon aims to showcase these achievements and encourage continued community investment in young women's futures.

Through strategic partnerships and funded programming, MOSTe supports scholars beyond academic achievement. Students participate in community service projects with organizations like Heal the Bay and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, while also engaging in workshops focused on career readiness, financial literacy, and college planning.

The June 7, 2025 event at San Antonio Winery will feature student and alumnae speakers, providing direct insight into the program's impact. By highlighting individual success stories, MOSTe seeks to demonstrate the long-term benefits of sustained mentorship and targeted educational support.

As the organization continues to grow, its commitment remains focused on breaking systemic barriers and creating pathways to success for girls from under-resourced communities. The luncheon represents a crucial opportunity to celebrate past achievements and generate momentum for future initiatives.
