Puerto Rico's Day at the Ballpark continues its 2026 nationwide series with three upcoming celebrations in Colorado, Chicago, and Los Angeles, according to a press release from Discover Puerto Rico and 21 Events. The events, scheduled for August 18 at Coors Field, August 22 at Rate Field, and August 23 at Dodger Stadium, aim to highlight Puerto Rico's deep connection to baseball and honor players who have made significant contributions to the sport.
At Coors Field, the Colorado Rockies will host the celebration, featuring Willi Castro and Coach Andy González. The program includes a first pitch by Benjamin Oaks, owner of Aguanile, the first Puerto Rican dinner club in Denver, along with an on-field presentation, scoreboard features, and various in-stadium promotions and fan engagement activities. Four days later, the series moves to Chicago, where the New York Mets face the Chicago White Sox. The event will recognize legendary ballplayer Roberto Hernandez and include a first pitch by award-winning Puerto Rican chef Monti Carlo, along with on-field presentations and activations celebrating Puerto Rico's baseball contributions. The final stop in this leg is Los Angeles, where Kiké Hernández and Edwin Diaz will be honored, with former Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 Estefanía Soto throwing the first pitch. Each stadium will also show a 60-second scoreboard video showcasing the island's beauty and heritage.
The series underscores Puerto Rico's enduring legacy in baseball, as noted by Jorge L. Pérez, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico: "Puerto Rico's relationship with baseball is rooted in generations of players who have competed at the highest level and represented our Island with tremendous pride. Most recently, Carlos Beltrán became Puerto Rico's sixth inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, further cementing our Island's enduring legacy in the sport." Beltrán's induction is a testament to the island's impact on the game, and these events serve to celebrate that heritage in front of fans across the country.
Fans attending the games will also have the opportunity to win a trip to Puerto Rico through the Discover Puerto Rico's Ballpark to Island Giveaway. The prize includes airfare, hotel accommodations, and special experiences for two. The contest is open to U.S. residents 18 and over, with no purchase necessary, and entry can be made at discoverpuertorico.com/ballpark-to-island.
Ralph Paniagua, Managing Director of 21 Events, emphasized the series' importance: "One of the things that makes this series special is the opportunity to tell different stories in every city. Puerto Rico's baseball history isn't defined by one player, one generation or one ballpark. Our players have made an impact across the game, and these events allow us to recognize those contributions in front of the fans and communities that remember them. Colorado, Chicago and Los Angeles each give us another opportunity to celebrate that history."
Since its debut in 2023, Puerto Rico's Day at the Ballpark has grown into a signature national series, and after these August events, it will continue in September for its final scheduled stop of the season. This series not only honors Puerto Rican players but also strengthens the cultural ties between the island and U.S. baseball fans, reinforcing the importance of diversity in the sport and the lasting influence of Puerto Rican athletes.
