FROSTBURG, MD – Clym Environmental Services, LLC officially opened its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event, attended by more than 100 elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, highlighted the facility's innovative ozone treatment technology and its solar-powered operations.
The ceremony featured a VIP tour and information stations showcasing the ozone treatment process, along with a display by Energy Select, the solar company behind the facility's renewable energy installation. Attendees also learned about the facility's interior rendering, which is soon to be completed.
Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, opened the event and praised the company's impact. “Clym Environmental will create living-wage jobs, and its operations, using technology and environmental science, make its proximity to Frostburg State University a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County,” she said.
Remarks were also delivered by Charles Watts, President of Clym; Secretary Harry Coker of the Maryland Department of Commerce; Bill Atkinson, Allegany County Commissioner; Jeff Barclay, Director of Allegany County Economic Development; and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council.
During the ceremony, Clym received a certificate of congressional recognition presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney. Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator, delivered the award, stating: “On behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, we're honored to present this certificate of congressional recognition to Clym Environmental Services, in recognition and celebration of your new facility in Frostburg. Your pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology is truly remarkable. Thank you for your contribution to workforce opportunities and long-term economic growth in Western Maryland.”
The Frostburg facility will utilize Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material into safe, reusable materials. This method generates ozone from ambient air and is powered by solar energy, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods.
The opening follows several milestones, including Clym being named the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year winner at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The facility supports Clym's expansion across the eastern United States and advances sustainable waste management for the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.
