The Martial Arts History Museum is set to host the 19th Annual Dragonfest expo on August 2, 2025, at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. This event, more than just an Asian cultural and heritage celebration, serves as a global gathering for martial arts enthusiasts to honor the legacy of martial arts icons and support the museum's preservation efforts.
Founded and coordinated by Michael Matsuda, Dragonfest has become a pivotal event in the martial arts community, featuring over 100 booths with vendors offering everything from jewelry to martial arts supplies. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and get autographs from renowned martial arts stars, including Michael Jai White and Cynthia Rothrock, among others.
This year's Dragonfest will also welcome special guests like Steve Oedekerk and Joe Mantegna, alongside six lecture classes led by figures such as Benny Uquidez and Don Wilson. Cultural performances, including Chinese Lion dancing and Okinawan dancers, will highlight the rich diversity of Asian heritage.
Michael Matsuda emphasizes the event's significance beyond celebrity appearances, stating it's a celebration of culture and history aimed at preserving the martial arts legacy for future generations. As a charity event, all proceeds from Dragonfest go directly to the Martial Arts History Museum, ensuring its doors remain open to continue its mission.
Major sponsors, including Dr. Kemi Price and the city of Glendale, underscore the community's support for this vital cultural preservation effort. Dragonfest 2025 not only offers a day of entertainment and education but also a chance for individuals to contribute to safeguarding martial arts history.
