Enapter AG, a global greentech company specializing in AEM electrolysers for green hydrogen production, has received a pilot order worth approximately EUR 0.5 million from a US drone manufacturer. The order includes AEM electrolysers from the 4.1 series, scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026.

These hydrogen-producing modules will be integrated into mobile, all-terrain refueling systems that generate hydrogen on-site from water and solar power, eliminating the need for a grid connection. This approach bypasses the complex transport and storage of hydrogen in large compressed gas cylinders, which has been a major barrier to operating hydrogen-powered drones in remote locations. Compared to battery-electric propulsion, hydrogen drones offer significantly longer flight times and quick refueling, making them ideal for extended missions.

This pilot project highlights the advantages of Enapter's modular AEM technology, which features a compact footprint, robust operation, and scalability. By simply adding modules, hydrogen production can be expanded as needed, a key benefit for the rapidly growing market for long-range drones.
