Garuda Indonesia is offering 170,845 domestic roundtrip seats at no additional fare to eligible international passengers flying to Indonesia from 14 origin cities across 10 countries. The initiative, running from August 1 to November 30, 2026, aims to encourage travelers to explore beyond the main international gateways of Jakarta and Denpasar.
The Free Domestic Flight program allows passengers holding roundtrip international tickets to add a domestic roundtrip journey as part of their itinerary. This move is designed to foster longer stays and multi-destination travel, spreading tourism spending more evenly across the archipelago, according to the airline.
Garuda Indonesia Marketing Group Head Prina Eka Putri emphasized the program's significance. "Indonesia offers far more than a single destination. By making onward domestic travel easier, we want international travellers to stay longer, explore more regions and experience more of what Indonesia has to offer," she said. The airline sees this as a way to enhance its competitive edge in regional markets by integrating its international and domestic networks.
The program also provides connectivity for Indonesian diaspora, migrant workers, and citizens returning from overseas who wish to travel to their home regions or other destinations. Agny Gallus Pratama, Southeast Asia Branch Manager and Head of the Free Domestic Flight Project Management Office, highlighted the economic potential. "The opportunity is not only to bring more travellers into Indonesia, but to enable each arrival to reach more destinations. When visitors travel further and stay longer, the economic impact can extend to hotels, restaurants, local transportation, tourism operators and MSMEs across the regions," he said.
By linking international traffic with domestic routes, Garuda Indonesia expects to disperse visitor flows and tourism spending more widely, benefiting local tourism ecosystems. The airline aims to create greater value from each international arrival, supporting the national tourism agenda.
