Nuestro Studios, a division of Nuestro Stories, has announced the commencement of production for its dark fantasy short film 'El Clavito,' featuring performances by Ruben Rabasa, Vivian Lamolli, and Alexander Arias. The bilingual film, which begins production in Miami this month, is the first in a slate of three planned films by the studio and is being co-produced in partnership with CSP Media Group.
'El Clavito' tells the haunting tale of a young couple who, amid a significant home-buying crisis, purchase a house from a mysterious elderly man for just $1. However, the seemingly incredible deal comes with a strange condition that might haunt them. The story is an adaptation of a sermon heard 30 years ago by the film's director and screenplay writer, Manuel Ruiz-Barrera. 'This story is an adaptation of a powerful sermon I first heard 30 years ago from my late pastor, so I’m extremely honored this great cast and crew are joining me to produce a truly special, awesome story,' Ruiz-Barrera said.
The production boasts a diverse and talented cast and crew, including Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Colombians, Ecuadorians, and an Afro Latina lead actress. The collaboration with Chicano Hollywood helped in casting some of the actors, showcasing the studio's commitment to representing Latino culture and talent.
'El Clavito' is expected to be ready for the film festival circuit by November. This film follows the recent success of Nuestro Studios' summer podcast series hit, 'Bistec.' With this new project, Nuestro Studios continues to solidify its position as a significant player in the media landscape by celebrating Latino heritage, history, and origins through compelling stories and diverse representation.
Nuestro Stories, the flagship media brand of Brilla Media Ventures, operates with a mission to deliver engaging cultural content for multicultural audiences. Their offerings include programmatic advertising technology services, influencer marketing, creative studio services, and activations.
