The taekwondo team of Shincheonji Church of Jesus has recently garnered international acclaim by securing a remarkable tally of medals at the 2025 Park Chung-hee Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition in South Korea. With 25 athletes competing, the team's dedication and rigorous training regimen culminated in the acquisition of four gold, seven silver, and 14 bronze medals, showcasing their prowess on a global stage.
This event, which attracted approximately 4,200 athletes from 18 countries, served as a testament to the team's resilience and skill. Gold medalist Lee Jun-wi attributed their success to focused training within the limited preparation time, reflecting the team's determination and unity. Further solidifying their reputation, the Shincheonji taekwondo national team also excelled at the 2025 Kim Un-yong Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition in Busan, with every team member earning medals. Notably, their achievements extend beyond these events, as evidenced by their performance at the 2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Festival, where five out of 18 participants won medals.
